SPECIALIST AREAS OF PRACTICE

Insurance Law

Justin has provided advice to the insurance industry for 19 years.  During that time he has managed major litigation, negotiated complex claims and examined a variety of policy wordings.  His experience has included public liability, product liability, professional indemnity, industrial special risks, industrial accident and fire and arson claims.

Personal Injuries Litigation

Justin has managed claims on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in the personal injuries field.  His particular focus has been on the appropriate resolution of claims, always keeping in mind the risks and stresses which both parties face.  Justin is able to advise on all aspects of the “tort law reform” changes which have had a major impact on this category of claim.

Asbestos Litigation

Since joining Monahan + Rowell, Justin has expanded his practice into the area of claims concerning industrial diseases alleged to be caused by exposure to asbestos products.  This field requires not only a detailed knowledge of the relevant law, but an appreciation of the medical issues.  Justin works closely with Philip Rowell in managing these claims, which are often commenced at a time when the claimants are becoming seriously ill.  While always acting to protect our clients’ interests, Justin and Philip manage these matters with sensitivity and respect.

Employment Law

Justin provides advice to both employers and employees on all aspects of employment law.  The topics covered by this advice include the wording of employment contracts, termination of employment, workplace harassment, workplace discrimination, drug and alcohol policies, the engagement of independent contractors, occupational health and safety issues and award interpretation.
